Merging three blogs into one

Please note that as of today (6th May 2011) I will no longer be updating on this blog. All music related posts and reviews can now be found on my main blog ‘You’re in my head’

Sorry for any inconvenience caused and hope to see you over there!

Tour 2: Östra Husby via the E22, Tåby. Back on the 209–10th April 2011

Well yesterday’s route was much easier than I had first predicted, being as it was quite windy and hard going at times. Added to that was the fact that it is only my second cycle of the year meant that the distance and time were exceptional in comparison to previous years.

Route: Östra Husby
Time: 02:15:21
KM: 52.69
Average (KM/H): 23.9
Max (KM/H): 40.7
Calories: 1,347.11
Record: 10th April 2011

I’ve just read that the first time I did a distance like this last year wasn’t until 16th May, which was Glan Runt, a cycle I am taking part in this year too. So there was a lot to be positive about!

I also went back to music on the tour, which I gave up on a couple of years ago, due to the danger factor (not hearing traffic being the biggest). This time I took the mobile phone and the headset that includes one earphone and it worked OK. I do prefer the stereo effect but this was a decent enough compromise. It was The Dodos, Ladytron and Radiohead who accompanied me yesterday afternoon…

And then I went to play floorball for an hour…madness abounds!

Tour 1: Knivberga

And I’m back and it feels bloody great! This is the first time I’ve cycled in March since 2006 and I really felt good about it, before during and now, after. I think this year might be the best yet. I have to fit in another two cycles this month, however, if I’m to take the first challenge of the year, which is three cycles in March (the record of two was set way back in 2005).

Route: Knivberga
Time: 01:21:04
KM: 32.28
Average (KM/H): 24.0
Max (KM/H): 40.0
Calories: 691.33
Record: 2009 – 01:05:12

Moving forward by looking back

This year has proved to be an immense year for cycling so far, with me beating all previous records for times out on the bike, number of sessions achieved and the distance covered per month.

I basically started this journey in 2004 with an old mountain bike, which I bought second hand from the cycle shop down the road.

It was only in 2005, when still using the bike above that I bought a bike computer and the whole fascination with cycling around the fair county of Östergötland took off!

In 2006 I bought a new bike, a racer, which increased the interest so much, so quickly.

Then came lots and lots of problems, resulting in a real mix of years up to now and forcing me to buy a new mountain bike as a back up (as yet not pictured).

I decided that I wanted to get back into the cycling blog and I am going to do that by going through the five years previous to this one, before getting ready for when I beat the records of all the previous years…not long now!

Stay tuned!

Upping the Tempo

It’s been a case of a post here and a post there on various blogs and Facebook, before deciding to get going with a fully detailed cycling blog. I mean I’ve clocked up a total of 46 hours on the bikes this year and even though that’s nothing compared to Dennis Nilsson, who is managing between 15 and 39 hours a week(!), I’m still rather proud of myself.

My first task is going to be to bore you with my detailed challenge of beating three significant records from 2007: total cycles done, total kilometres covered over the year and length of time on the bike.

Just now I am level with the number of cycles (30) and in front with the number of hours (46 vs 44) and behind with the number of km (1,260 vs 1,180). I’m expecting to beat all those easily (well two I have already), which says a lot considering 2008 was a disaster in terms of me and the bike.

More to follow…
